Factors involved in trucking accidents

Many California motorists have experienced driving near large trucks and the fear that often elicits. Large truck accidents resulted in 3,852 fatalities in 2015, with 69 percent of the victims being occupants in passenger vehicles, while 15 percent were bicyclers, pedestrians and motorcyclists. A 2016 study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety revealed some of the factors involved in large truck accidents and explored some ways to prevent this.

We might not be so sure of distracted driving stats after all

We are reminded of the dangers of distracted driving almost every day. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 400,000 accidents were caused by distracted drivers in 2015. Those numbers continue to rise today, but are the statistics that accurate? According to new research, the impact of texting and driving could be worse than we thought.

AAA says infotainment systems have no place in cars

Residents of California who are shopping for a new car might be interested in new technology that can make cars safer and more convenient. Infotainment systems that allow drivers to multitask while driving right from the dashboard are a distraction, AAA says, and that can increase the likelihood of car accidents.

The size of vehicles and their safety in crashes

California drivers should be aware that the size of their vehicles is an important factor in how safe the vehicle may be in an accident. Bigger vehicles are typically safer than smaller cars during a collision. This is especially the case if the collision is between a large vehicle and a small car.
